Tasmania’s reputation for high-quality products and services in the defence supply market is continuing to grow.
The Hodgman Liberal Government’s delegation to the Land Forces 2018 exhibition and conference in Adelaide this week is continuing the momentum as Tasmania’s capabilities are showcased to the world.
Land Forces is quickly becoming the biggest international industry exposition to demonstrate land-based military equipment, technology and services in the Asia-Pacific region, and is a key opportunity to gain new contacts and contracts for Tasmanian businesses.
Following the success of our first visit to Land Forces in 2016, interest has grown locally with 11 companies and organisations forming this year’s delegation, led by Tasmanian Defence Advocate, Rear Admiral (Rtd) Steve Gilmore AM CSC.
It forms a key part of our increased push to better expose Tasmania’s niche capabilities in defence products and services to the world, and to continue to open up new opportunities for local operations.

Since 2016, Penguin Composites, Jayben, CBG Systems, Moonraker, Direct Edge and the University’s Australian Maritime College have all formed ongoing relationships with major defence contractors such as BAE, Thales and Rheinmetall.
It demonstrates that Tasmania can deliver high quality advanced products that are globally competitive for large-scale, high-value defence contracts.
