There has been an improvement in the number of Tasmanian senior secondary students achieving their TCE attainment and an ATAR score in exam results being released today.
This year’s preliminary results show that 3672 students achieved their Tasmanian Certificate of Education which is 57.4 per cent of all students compared to 56.5 per cent in 2017.
There has also been an increase in students achieving an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank score with 34.6 per cent in 2018 compared to 33.6 per cent last year.
It is also extremely pleasing to see the Hodgman Liberal Government’s plan to extend high schools to Years 11-12 is working with 95 students from these schools achieving their TCE compared with 56 last year.
Congratulations to all of the students who sat exams and to the teachers, support staff, parents, family and friends who mentored them through a vital and often challenging time in their lives.
Education is a key component for young people to achieve their best in life and I encourage the Class of 2018 to explore future education options at university, VET or on-the-job training courses to improve their skills and future career options.
The office of Tasmanian Assessment, Standards and Certification (TASC) will email results today to students who pre-registered while hard copy results and certificates were mailed today.
The Tasmanian Government is committed to lifting education attainment in this state which is why we are investing a record $324 million investment into education, including 358 more staff and $192 million in infrastructure. These investments are only possible because of our strong financial management.
