The Hodgman majority Liberal Government understands the importance of the digital economy and the critical role it will play in the future success of our state.
That’s why we are proud to once again be a major sponsor of GovHack, the annual international competition which encourages the innovative use of open data to come up with new ideas and applications to benefit the community.
For the seventh year running, GovHack events took place around Australia and New Zealand from 6 - 8 September.
Local teams competed at events held at the Enterprize innovation hubs in Hobart and Launceston, developing 16 projects from over 500 Tasmanian Government datasets, encompassing health, schools, justice, environment and heritage information.
This year, the Hodgman Government sponsored a total four awards for ‘Most Outstanding Tasmanian Benefit’, ‘Most Commercial Benefit’, Best Use of Tasmanian Spatial Data’ and ‘Best Use of Tasmanian Heritage Data’.
We thank all participants for their outstanding work and wish entrants every success at the international awards to be held in Canberra on 9 November.
