Up to 950 new training places are being supported through the latest round of Skills funding that will help more Tasmanians find careers in growing industries.
More than $1.6 million will be distributed in this round to help get new skilled workers into areas that need them such as building and construction, directly responding to areas of high growth and labour shortages or gaps.
Tasmania is leading the nation in the total value of building approvals with a massive increase of 46 per cent in the year to August 2018, and this skills funding is vital to ensure our workforce has the skills they need to keep up with demand into the future.
The benefits are clear, with 1450 construction trades apprentices in training as at March 2018- an increase of over 11 per cent when compared to the same time last year.
And the good news doesn’t stop there, with up to $3 million now available through the next round of Skills funding to continue addressing identified skills gaps across the state.

The Skills Fund is open to endorsed Registered Training Organisations with applications closing on Tuesday 23 October, 2018.
