The appalling hypocrisy of Bob Brown clearly knows no bounds.
Dr Brown spends every day complaining about lowering emissions, but when the opportunity comes for him to support emission-reducing windfarm projects, he refuses because they happen to be in his own backyard.
Tasmania will be perfectly placed to use this additional energy to attract new businesses, investment and jobs to Tasmania while also supplying the mainland with affordable, reliable and clean energy.
It simply beggars belief that Dr Brown would oppose this.
It confirms he has nothing to offer Tasmanians except perpetual protest.
To be clear, all windfarms are subject to rigorous development and environmental approvals, and wind farm operators and proponents must put measures in place to minimise impacts on threatened species in both the construction and operation phases of their development.
The Tasmanian Government won’t be discouraged by Dr Brown’s opposition to renewable energy and we will continue to back renewable energy projects and our vision to be a Renewable Energy Powerhouse.
