As Minister for Education and Training, I congratulate the 86 finalists across 14 categories in the 2019 Tasmanian Training Awards which have been announced to mark World Youth Skills Day.
The Training Awards recognise the achievements of apprentices, trainees and vocational students who strive for the highest standards of knowledge and skills within their industry.
They also recognise industry, employers and training organisations dedicated to providing high quality training and improving the skills of the workforce in Tasmania.
The Awards offer finalists the chance to gain personal satisfaction and the prestige of being part of an elite group who represent the state’s best in vocational education and training.
This year saw record entries for some awards, with categories including apprentices, trainees and vocational students, VET and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, training providers, employers and teachers/trainers, as well as three equity categories and an industry collaboration award.
Winners will be announced at a gala dinner on Friday, 6 September 2019 at Wrest Point Conference Centre with the winners of national categories nominated for the 2019 Australian Training Awards in Brisbane in November.
Each year the Tasmanian Training Awards let us celebrate the local talent being developed through our vocational education and training system and thank the teachers and organisations that help develop the skills of our workforce and nurture the aspirations of the next generation of Tasmanians.
Vocational education and training remains one of the best ways for young Tasmanians to find the right path for their future and a rewarding life-long career.
