A total of 107 kindergartens in Tasmania will receive a boost as part of the Hodgman Liberal Government’s $15 million capital works program to ensure young Tasmanians start their education journey in welcoming, safe and inclusive environments.
We want students to develop a life-long love of learning from a young age which is why we are ensuring they have access to state of the art facilities.
Ten schools will receive replacement kindergartens, they are: Bagdad PS, Bowen Road PS, Cooee PS, Forth PS, Franklin PS, Glen Huon PS, Glenora District, Lilydale District, Moonah PS and Rosetta PS.
Major refurbishments will occur at 18 schools, they are: Brighton PS, Cressy District, Cygnet PS, East Tamar PS, Glen Dhu PS, Glenorchy PS, Latrobe PS, Mole Creek PS, Mowbray Heights PS, New Town PS, Oatlands District, Orford PS, St Helens District, Ravenswood PS, Ringarooma PS, Sassafras PS, Triabunna District and Yolla District.
While a further 79 schools will receive funding for minor upgrades to existing kindergarten facilities.
These commitment are part of our Plan to invest in the early years which also includes six new early education hubs and free pre-school for disadvantaged three year olds which will be rolled out state-wide next year.
