STUDENT SYSTEMS RENEWAL INITIATIVE – PHASE 2

Roger Jaensch MP, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

Education is a major contributor to improving social and economic outcomes in our State and the Tasmanian Liberal Government continues to invest in contemporary, reliable and secure technology systems to support our school communities.

The 2022-23 State Budget includes $12.2 million over four years to replace and modernise existing school administration systems and improve the integration of core business systems. This initiative builds on funding already allocated for Phase 1 of the student case management platform.

The Student Systems Renewal Phase 2 initiative recognises the importance of bringing together all essential information on students, providing schools and parents with tools to improve student learning, wellbeing and engagement.

Modernising and consolidating the Department of Education’s administration system will drive better collaboration, create better understanding of our learners by providing real-time updates and aid staff to make insight-driven decisions.

Upgrading the technology systems will also help the Department streamline the way it manages and interprets information.

This initiative will also help improve the delivery, management, and productivity of education in Tasmania by ensuring the right people have access to the information they require to do their jobs.

Importantly, this initiative will help keep learners at school by providing systems to support the Department with managing and monitoring attendance and other key data sets.

The 2022-23 State Budget is delivering for all Tasmanians and we will continue to improve information sharing systems to better understand our learners.

This includes renewing or modernising the enrolment system, which means schools, central officers and relevant partner agencies will be able to efficiently access accurate data from the one source of truth.

This is a Government that is accountable and delivers on its commitments.

That’s why we are continuing to deliver our record infrastructure program, to build thriving, connected communities, harness our competitive advantages, and create more opportunities for Tasmanians in every corner of our State to maintain a robust economy so that we can invest where it matters.
