SECURING THE FUTURE OF TASTAFE

Roger Jaensch MP, Minister for Skills, Training and Workforce Growth

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to delivering for our learners, workforce, businesses, and economy for years to come and that is why we are investing an additional $15.5 million to secure the future of TasTAFE.

This new funding includes $7 million to support students and additional TasTAFE teachers, as well as providing additional resources and administrative support for staff.

The 2022-23 Budget also includes $5 million in additional funding to complete the new Water and Energy Trades Centre of Excellence at TasTAFE’s Clarence Campus.

This extra funding ensures the new WET Centre will be able to provide a modern, state-of-the-art training experience that supports the development of associated industries and their workforces.

Our Government is making Tasmanians’ priorities our priorities, which is why this year’s Budget includes $3 million to improve ventilation and air quality across TasTAFE facilities, to provide safer learning and working areas for staff and students as we adapt to living with COVID-19.

Importantly, these new commitments build on our Government’s funding delivered in last year’s Budget.

This means the Tasmanian Government has now committed a total of $114 million in new funding for TasTAFE since the 2021 State Election.

Our Government’s ongoing investments in TasTAFE include funding for 100 more teachers, new and improved facilities and better access to training for regional and rural Tasmanians.

Our plan for TasTAFE will ensure it is strengthening Tasmania’s future by meeting the training needs of Tasmanians, now and for years to come.
