The Tasmanian Liberal Government knows that our Parks are the driver for our regional economies and a strong state-wide visitor economy. That’s why we are continuing to invest in our plan to secure Tasmania’s future and ensure that our natural assets are future proofed, providing experiences consistent with the expectations of locals and visitors alike.

The 2021-22 Tasmanian Budget includes:

$4 million towards the $14 million development of the Freycinet National Park and Visitor Gateway;
support for tourism on Flinders Island with an initial allocation of $600,000 towards the $900,000 upgrade for camping and RV access;
$1.2 million towards the $2.8 million project to turn Ben Lomond into a year-round destination;
$3 million to re-imagine the Hastings Thermal Pool;
$2.8 million towards the $6.8 million Maria Island Re-discovered Project – Stage 3;
an initial $500,000 towards the $2.8 million project to replace the boardwalk of the outstanding Tamar Island Wetlands Centre;
$1.75 million towards the $3 million upgrade of the Cockle Creek camp site;
an initial $200,000 towards the $1.7 million in upgrades to the visitor facilities at Cape Bruny, including improvements to road access, car parking and the day use area;
$750,000 towards the $2.75 million ‘Edge of the World’ experience at Arthur River;
$600,000 to complete the Horsetail Falls Trail at Queenstown;
$1.5 million towards the $3 million Tasman Arch-Devils Kitchen Stage 2 project, which will include an iconic suspension bridge across the Devils Kitchen Chasm;
$200,000 towards the $1.8 million project to create a new arrival concourse in the jewel of the Derwent Valley, the Mt Field National Park; and
$10 million into a program to provide new and improved recreational driving opportunities across the West Coast, as well as providing resources for improved enforcement of regulations in the Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area.

These investments secure the future of iconic tourism experiences in national parks and reserves across the State, while ensuring the renewal and maintenance of high priority visitor facilities to stimulate the tourism industry and economic growth in regional Tasmania.
