Our number one priority throughout COVID-19 has been to protect the health and safety of Tasmanians, and this will continue as we start to ease our border restrictions with low risk jurisdictions from tomorrow, Monday 26 October.
Travellers arriving in Tasmania from low risk jurisdictions, including South Australia, Western Australia, the Australian Capital Territory, the Northern Territory, Queensland and New Zealand will start arriving in our state and not need to quarantine.
They will also complete the Tas e-Travel registration system which has been live since Friday, allowing travellers to record where they are travelling to our island from. More information on the Tas e-Travel system can be found at www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au. Travellers from medium and high-risk areas will still be required to provide their details via the G2G PASS system.
Our airports and TT-Line have been preparing for this day and working closely with Public Health, Biosecurity Tasmania and across government to have processes and systems in place for arriving passengers. Their cooperation and collaboration has been critical and we thank them for all their work.
All people arriving in Tasmania will be health screened, including temperature checks and questions regarding whether they have symptoms. Those who have symptoms will be requested to get a test and isolate until the results is known.
We urge incoming travellers to have patience as they move through the process tomorrow, recognising that the teams at our airports and sea port, biosecurity and health staff will be working as quickly as possible, while keeping everyone safe.
Travellers can play their part in helping us keep on top of Covid by following the instructions of the airport and government officials on the ground and by physically distancing where they can, washing their hands and covering coughs and sneezes.
