Tasmania's historic heritage places tell important stories of Tasmania and are a key driver of our visitor economy.
They are icons of our State's brand and we know that they will play a key role in our economic recovery from COVID-19 which is why it’s so important that we support the organisations that care for these unique assets.
The 2021-22 Tasmanian Budget builds on our commitment to protect and promote our assets so that we can continue to look after our past and secure Tasmania’s future.
The Budget includes an extra $300,000 to support the work of the National Trust Tasmania, effectively doubling our support, so that the Trust can continue to manage its portfolio of properties and undertake strategic business transformation activities.
We are also investing in our heritage sites across the State, with the Budget including:
We have also finalised the $1.25 million funding agreement for the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority (PAHSMA) to lead the development of a convict memorial hub at the Hobart Penitentiary Chapel.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is delivering on our strong plan to secure Tasmania's future in all areas of the state and this Budget confirms we are delivering on our promise.
