Royalties boom despite Greens’ gloom and doom

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is proud of our mining and minerals processing sector which is a key focus of our strategy to drive economic growth and create sustainable jobs.

The sector – which employs over 5,000 people of which many are in regional areas – produces over half of Tasmania’s annual mercantile export value or more than $2.8 billion.

That’s why we are proud that in addition to this contribution, the mining industry has delivered a record $60.7 million in mineral royalties to the Tasmanian people over the last 12 months.

This is almost double the 2019-2020 royalties received that totalled $31.6 million.

These royalties support essential services like health and education for the benefit of all Tasmanians.

The Tasmanian Government recognises that a strong economy is vital to funding the essential services that we all need and use and, importantly, it delivers and secures more jobs for Tasmanians.

In stark contrast, the anti-everything Greens want to smash our mining industry, destroying the thousands of local jobs it supports.
