The Tasmanian Government is committed to keeping Tasmanians safe, and any death on our roads this holiday season is one too many.
Operation Crossroads has been launched today urging Tasmanians to stay safe on our roads over the Christmas and New Year period.
The operation will run from 21 December to January 1 and see Tasmania Police undertaking highly visible and covert patrols focusing on the fatal five contributors to fatal and serious crashes.
The fatal five are: speeding, seatbelts, alcohol and drugs, fatigue and distraction.
The Christmas period is one of the busiest times on Tasmanian roads with additional cars, caravans, boats and trailers, making it even more important to follow the rules and obey the speed limits.
Everyone has a role to play when it comes to road safety, and I urge all Tasmanians to be extra vigilant and drive responsibly to ensure they have a safe holiday season this year with their loved ones.
