Legislative Council sitting schedule update

Following consultation with Legislative Councillors, there will be some minor changes to the Legislative Council sitting schedule.

The proposed sitting week of 12, 13 and 14 October will now be replaced with a new sitting week on 9, 10 and 11 November.

This will see the sittings of both houses better coordinated to allow time for a thorough and comprehensive consideration of the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s priority legislation to be brought before the Parliament during the Spring session.

The Government believes it is vital that our legislative reforms, such as establishing the Stadiums Tasmania Trust, the new Container Deposit Refund Scheme, implementing the TasTAFE reforms, and the Future Gaming Market policy, are given sufficient time for thorough consideration and debate in the Legislative Council and this will be better facilitated through this minor change to the sitting schedule.
