Jobs continue to increase in Tasmania

Tasmanians and Tassie businesses can continue to be quietly confident, with the number of jobs continuing to grow.
Over the month to September 5, the number of payroll jobs in Tasmania grew 0.8 per cent, which was the highest growth rate in the nation.

This steady increase shows the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s measured and responsible approach to our recovery is working.
This data backs up labour force figures for August, released last week, which shows 15,800 jobs have returned since the height of the pandemic’s impacts in May. Four out of five Tasmanians who lost their job have now regained employment, and there are now 6,600 more Tasmanians employed than in August last year.

Confidence continues to grow, with the Sensis Business Index yesterday finding Tassie businesses are the most positive about our state economy in the nation.

Unlike Labor and their Prophets of Doom, who continually talk down our economy, question Public Health advice and oppose jobs, the Government will always back Tasmanians and Tasmanian jobs.

We know the impacts have been hard on many industries, including tourism, and we will continue to back those businesses with initiatives like our $7.5 million tourism vouchers.

It’s measures like these that show we have bold strategies to drive job creation and explore new opportunities for Tasmania.
And that is on top of our construction blitz over the next two years, which will generate $3.1 billion in construction and support 15,000 jobs.
