Bowls Tasmania set for the big stage

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is providing more opportunities for Tasmanians to compete in sport, from grassroots all the way through to the elite level.

We are delighted to be providing Bowls Tasmania $120,000 over the next three years ($40,000 per year) to enter a Tasmanian team in the national Bowls Premier League (BPL).

The BPL is an annual bowls competition involving teams from around Australia competing twice a year in February and November.

Having a Tasmanian team represented in the League provides a pathway for Tasmanian bowlers to compete at the national level.

The official team name is the Tasmania Tridents and Bowls Tasmania has selected its three competitors - Rebecca Van Asch, Mark Nitz, Taelyn Male - and appointed Mark Strochnetter as coach.

Our Government is a proud supporter of bowls in Tasmania and it’s great to see another State team competing on the big stage.

We wish the Tasmania Tridents every success in the competition.
