Applications open for business support providers across Tasmania

The Tasmanian Government is delivering our plan to rebuild our State’s economy from the impacts of COVID-19 and create more jobs and opportunities for Tasmanians.

Accordingly, applications will open tomorrow for organisations interested in delivering the Government’s $200,000 Small Business Regional Referral Support Program that will help businesses in regional and remote areas across Tasmania to access Government-funded advice and support.

We know that businesses in regional and remote areas find it challenging to find and access advice and services that are available to support their business, and often want to talk to someone face-to-face in their local community.

The Program will help to fill this need, and provides $25,000 in eight regional areas of Tasmania for an organisation with a local presence to link businesses with financial support, such as grants and loans, as well as non-financial support, such as advice, information and coaching.

Interested organisations may include entities such as local Chambers of Commerce; Enterprise Centres; local government associations; industry associations; or private businesses.

The eight regional areas are Circular Head; Flinders Island; Glamorgan-Spring Bay; King Island; Dorset; Central Highlands/Southern Midlands; Tasman; and the West Coast.

The Small Business Regional Referral Support Program targets businesses that are at least one hour’s drive from the nearest Enterprise Centre.

Over the past year, the Tasmanian Government has delivered over $80 million in direct support to small businesses including over 20,000 grants to over 14,000 small businesses.

The $200,000 Small Business Regional Referral Support Program is part of the COVID-19 Small Business Sustainability and Recovery Assistance Package, and has been developed in direct response to feedback from business and industry.

Applications open on Monday 22 February and close on Monday 22 March, and will be open via Smarty Grants.
