Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra welcomed to Tasmania

It is my pleasure to welcome the Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra to Tasmania.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to continuing our strong relationship with China, and this visit will add further weight to the state’s growing national and international reputation as an arts and cultural tourism destination.

The Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra is one of China’s great Orchestras and will perform two concerts as part of the 2017 Ten Days on the Island festival, with one at Albert Hall in Launceston tonight and another at Hobart’s Federation Concert Hall on Saturday night.

It follows a visit to the city of Xiamen in the Fujian Province by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra as part of their tour to China earlier this year.

The Tasmanian Government is a proud supporter of Ten Days on the Island, and events like this will strengthen our cultural connection and friendship with China while allowing the Festival to promote our state to the world.

Ten Days on the Island continues until 27 March 2017. For more details visit: http://www.tendays.org.au
