Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra to tour Tasmania

I am pleased to announce China’s iconic Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra is coming to Tasmania as part of the Ten Days on the Island Festival.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to continuing our strong relationship with China, and this announcement will add further weight to the state’s growing national and international reputation as an arts and cultural tourism destination.

The Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra is one of China’s great orchestras and they will hold two concerts as part of the festival, with one at Albert Hall in Launceston and another at Hobart’s Federation Concert Hall.

It follows a visit to the city of Xiamen in the Fujian Province by the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra as part of their tour to China earlier this year.

Tours such as this will further strengthen our cultural connection and friendship with China while allowing the Ten Days on the Island Festival to promote our state to a national and international audience.
