World Teachers’ Day

As Australia celebrates World Teachers’ Day I want to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to all in the Tasmanian school community for the positive contribution you are making to the lives of our young people on behalf of the Tasmanian community.

It is fitting that we celebrate World Teachers’ Day now, following the many tributes to so many of the wonderful and hard-working staff at the Department’s Education Awards for Excellence

The most important factor helping ensure positive growth in our students’ education outcomes is quality teaching and leadership. The work of educators in our schools, colleges, Child and Family Centres, and LINCs, is helping to make a big difference to the young people in our community.

I am very proud of the work being done in education in Tasmania. As a community we pay tribute to you all – principals, teachers, and support staff, for the sometimes challenging, but often very rewarding work being done. I sincerely thank you for the positive influence you have on our children and young people, and for the work that you do every day to improve and better their learning outcomes.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to education because it is key to continuing to improve social and economic growth in this State. We know that by investing in education from the early years ensures more children get a better start to their life, which is why we now have more teachers and support staff than ever before.
