World's best surfers to hunt big waves in Tasmania

The world’s best big wave surfers, including Australia’s Mick Fanning and Ross Clarke-Jones, will chase monster breaks at the 2018 Red Bull Cape Fear to be held at Shipstern Bluff.

Red Bull Cape Fear is a one-of-a-kind, invitation-only surfing competition which will be held during a five month window from today to ensure the best big wave surfing conditions.

Red Bull Cape Fear will be streamed online to the event’s 6.2 million followers and will showcase our State’s unrivalled natural environment to a new worldwide audience.

The Government through Events Tasmania is investing $20,000 to secure this major event.

Events Tasmania is developing a broad ranging events calendar to ensure every region of Tasmania can share in our thriving visitor economy.

An event live site will also be opened in Hobart to allow Tasmanians to engage in this fantastic exposition of surfing.

The Government is committed to delivering sustainable growth in tourism which protects what’s special about Tasmania and importantly, boosts the visitor economy in every region of our State.
