Working towards better results for Tasmanian patients

Today I've had a positive meeting with ACEM President Simon Judkins about problems getting our patients timely access into hospital beds.

We have agreed to co-host an access block solutions meeting in mid-June, while getting all the key facts, key people and a shared commitment to work with our teams to get better results for our patients.

This meeting has been brought forward to June, and will require significant work to prepare all the vital information and bring together expert contributors to ensure we get the right advice.

Access block is occurring in all states across Australia, and unfortunately Tasmania not immune from this trend. Admissions to Tasmania’s Emergency Departments have jumped 21 per cent in the last three years, and the only way we can address this increasing demand is by working together.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is dedicated to improving Tasmania’s health system, despite our record investment in health, including opening 130 additional beds across the State, we realise more needs to be done.
