Wednesday marks an historic day as new laws come into force protecting Tasmanian workers from radical protesters.
From Wednesday the law will be clear: everyone is entitled to have a say, but people can't stop others from earning a living in the process.
From Wednesday, workers will be protected from radical protesters seeking to make their point by destroying the livelihoods of others.
As we promised we would do before the election, we have made sure that Tasmania has the strongest laws in the country to protect workers' rights, while ensuring the right to free speech and legitimate protest have been protected.
The Liberal Government will stand up for jobs and investment. We will not sit by and watch our State's major industries be overrun by protesters who want to shut them down, depriving thousands of good, honest livelihoods and threatening the future of rural and regional communities right around the State.
In contrast, Labor is still completely captive to the Greens. Labor, the so called friend of the worker, sold out the forestry industry to appease the Greens in Government and in opposition refused to back this sensible measure to protect workers' livelihoods. It's little wonder then that Bryan Green has now started talking openly of doing another deal with the Greens in the future.
The Liberal Government is delivering on its election commitments, creating jobs and importantly, protecting jobs from radical protests.
