Work starts on $10.64 million Parklands High School upgrade

Today’s start to the $10.64 million major reconstruction at Parklands High School will give students and teachers access to some of the most modern learning spaces in the nation.

The works will see construction of a new Performing Arts Centre and Learning Hub and major refurbishments of existing buildings including learning areas for Years 7 and 9 students, as well as the canteen, specialised music and art spaces, and school administration.

The project is part of the Hodgman Liberal Government’s historic $110 million school infrastructure investment – the biggest investment in Government School infrastructure for 20 years that will also stimulate the economy and create jobs.

Tasmanian builder Stubbs Construction has just started foundation work for the buildings, designed by local practice Artas Architects, with the work expected to be complete during 2018.

The Tasmanian Government is committed to lifting education standards in this State with more teachers, more specialists, a contemporary Education Act and high quality facilities to support students and their local communities.

Students having access to modern learning environment builds pride and engagement with their school as well as supporting 21st Century learning, setting students up to succeed in their chosen career.
