Work continues on Richmond Road Masterplan

The Hodgman Liberal Government has a plan to upgrade vital road infrastructure and we are delivering on it with work to commence Monday on the next stage of upgrading Richmond Road as part of the Richmond Road Masterplan.

The works, from Malcolms Hut Road to Dry Creek are about increasing safety and will include the construction of sealed shoulders and upgrades to the Malcolms Hut Road junction.  This section of work is due for completion by mid-2019.

We recognise that Richmond Road is an important route for daily commuters, agricultural and commercial traffic, and is also popular with visitors and cyclists.

The Tasmanian Government’s Richmond Road Masterplan is being delivered in eight sections and will provide a safer and more consistent road environment along the 10.6 kilometre stretch from Cambridge to Richmond.

The Masterplan includes wider lanes, sealed shoulders, improved road alignment, junction upgrades, slow vehicle turnouts, and a new link road to connect Richmond Road to the Tasman Highway Acton Interchange.

Planning for the remaining sections is underway. Road users are asked to allow extra time when travelling through this area and to follow all directions from traffic controllers.
