Wooden Boat Festival sets sail for 2017

The 2017 MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival is now just two weeks away and I am very proud that the Tasmanian Government is continuing to support this event which attracts people from all over the world to our State.

The Government, through Events Tasmania, recently announced it is backing the next three festivals with a commitment of $2.25 million through to 2021.

Because of the Government’s support, the festival continues to appeal to a broad cross-section of Tasmanians because it can remain free to the public.

There is also a wonderful alignment between the Australian Wooden Boat Festival and the State’s branding initiatives that put Tasmania on the international map as a centre of maritime and culinary excellence.

The Australian Wooden Boat Festival always fulfils its promise as a fun-filled event for our local, interstate and international visitors.

I commend the organisers and volunteers for their tireless dedication to delivering this latest celebration of our rich nautical culture and heritage to the Hobart waterfront.
