Status Awareness Systems (SAS) is making a winning charge in the motorsport world after signing a 5-year contract to supply their Rallysafe in-car technology to the World Rally Championship.
SAS is a fine example of Tasmanian ingenuity and perseverance.
Awarded by motorsport body FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), this is a major coup for this small Ulverstone business where the number of employees is expected to grow from 14 to 22 in 2018.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is proud to have supported this business through the Export Market Assistance Scheme, the Tasmanian Government Innovation and Investment Fund and the Advanced Manufacturing Transition Fund through the Caterpillar Transition Taskforce.
Rallysafe is a vehicle-to-vehicle communication system that provides direct communication and integrated support to rally cars to reduce the number and severity of secondary collisions in motor sports events.
It will be used for timing, tracking and connectivity for the whole of the 2018-2022 FIA World Rally Championship seasons.
The system is already saving lives in more than 15 countries in over 100 motorsport events annually and promises even more growth as awareness of their products and capabilities increases.
SAS has gone from an idea amongst mates to improve rally car safety to international supplier of leading edge technology in just seven years.
The multi-million dollar contract was awarded in October and will put Rallysafe in all 65 World Rally Championship entries between 2018 and 2022.
Status Awareness Systems is a great example of the kind of innovative ideas and products, especially in advanced manufacturing, that Tasmania is increasingly becoming known for and the Hodgman Government is proud to have supported them.
