Wineglass Bay track upgrade

Wineglass Bay located on the Freycinet Peninsula is one of Tasmania’s greatest natural tourist attractions, and has become a must visit destination for those coming to explore Tasmania’s natural beauty.

Tasmania’s tourism sector is booming, and the Hodgman Liberal Government wants to manage and sustain this growth into the future, which is why we are investing into tourism infrastructure and new experiences.

This will maintain our current positive momentum, which creates jobs and contributes to the regional economy.

Tasmanian business Mtn Trails has been awarded a Tasmanian Government Tender to upgrade the walking track between the Wineglass Bay Lookout and Wineglass Bay beach.

This year, we expect visitor numbers to Freycinet to top 300,000 for the first time ever, making it essential that walking infrastructure is able to cope with demand.

Works will include the construction or repair of stone and timber steps, and repair of the existing gravel walking track and edging.

The Hodgman Liberal Government has set the target of attracting 1.5 million visitors to our beautiful State every year by 2020.
