Will Tas Labor support Shorten’s disastrous forestry policy?

The Federal ALP’s draft National Policy Platform proposal to revive the Tasmanian Forest “Peace-Deal” is a clear demonstration that Labor remains in lock-step with the Greens.

The so-called “Peace Deal” destroyed two out of every three jobs in the industry, and Tasmanians have twice since voted overwhelmingly to reject it.

Rebecca White needs to tell Tasmanians whether she is part of this attempt to revive the forestry deal.

She has admitted she has no regrets over her involvement in the deal.  Does she support this move to bring it back, or is she going to stand up for Tasmania?

This latest example of Labor’s move to the Left under Bill Shorten would sacrifice the public interest for Labor’s self-interest in grabbing votes from the Greens.

It would be a repeat of the disaster that unfolded last time.

The majority Hodgman Government ripped up the disastrous forestry deal, and is working to restore jobs, grow the industry, and ensure Tasmania strikes the right balance between sustainable industry and preserving Tasmania’s natural heritage.

The Hodgman Government growth strategy is built on four key pillars – resource security, financial sustainability, job security and a stronger role for the private sector.

Industry has responded: confidence is up, investment is up, production is up, exports are up and new jobs have been created.

Why would anyone want to go back?
