The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to strategically investing in our tourism infrastructure especially in regional areas, which will help the Government achieve its goal of attracting 1.5 million visitors to the state every year by 2020.
I am pleased that work has begun this week on the replacement of four bridges on Wielangta Road as part of a $1.2 million project to upgrade the road.
Local company VEC Civil Construction will construct the bridges, which is supporting local jobs and adding to the economy in line with our Buy Local policy.
Works have begun this week and it is anticipated the bridge replacement works will be complete by the end of May or early June.
The bridges to be constructed include Pony Bottom bridge, an unnamed low timber bridge 5.6 km north of Bream Creek Road, Sandspit bridge and Lady Fern bridge.
Access will be interrupted at various times as the different bridges are being constructed, and I thank the community for their patience during these important upgrades.
