Wi-Fi Hotspots roll out in Tasmania

The Liberal Government welcomes today's announcement that Telstra will switch on Wi-Fi Hotspots in four locations around Tasmania.

The Hobart trial has begun today in the CBD while Launceston, Devonport and Cambridge will all have the network switched on before Christmas.

Today's announcement is another step towards growing our digital and online presence and follows Telstra's recent announcement that an NBN Centre of Excellence will be located in Hobart.

The Liberal Government is committed to creating an empowered, digital economy. That's why we're funding nearly $2 million in strategic initiatives in the Budget to grow our IT sector.

This growing industry is an important part of our long term Plan to grow the economy to create jobs and we welcome today's announcement and the benefits it will have for Tasmanians.
