White’s Stunning “No Regrets” on Labor-Green Forest Deal

Only days into her new role, the inexperienced Rebecca White has already demonstrated how out of touch she is with regional Tasmania, and that she has learned nothing from the last election.

Asked – quite rightly – this morning if she regretted the job-destroying Labor-Green forest deal, Ms White said: “No, no regrets.”*

A great many Tasmanians involved in the forest industry, past and present, would be disgusted that the new Labor leader would still refuse to acknowledge that the party sold them out to appease the Greens.

Under the job-destroying deal, two out of every three jobs in the forest industry were destroyed, regional communities were torn apart and our economy was thrown into recession.

Like Bryan Green, Ms White seems to be labouring under the mistaken belief that while Tasmanians overwhelmingly rejected the disastrous Labor-Green government, her party did nothing wrong.

Mr White’s comments show Labor cannot be trusted to protect jobs in Tasmania’s productive industries from the Greens with their radical lock-it-up mentality.
