White peddling false hope on health with $88 million magic pudding

Labor is peddling false hope on health with an $88 million magic pudding promise she claims will fix every single issue in the health system.

In fact Ms White's $88 million, most of which would be on a new bureaucracy and the dodgy "medihotels" proposal, represents an increase of just 1.2 percent on the health budget over four years.

To put that in perspective, that is enough to run the health system for 18 days. Tasmanians would be dudded.

And in our last budget, we increased funding over four years by $650 million, over seven times more than Ms White is now pretending to offer.

To claim on one hand the health system is in crisis but expect an increase of one percent to be a magic fix just doesn’t work.

Ms White is trying to offer Tasmanians false hope – she might as well promise rainbows and unicorns.

The Hodgman Liberal Government realises there is still more to be done in health – that’s why we are opening beds and surgical theatres that were closed under Labor and employing more doctors, nurses and paramedics.
