The more Rebecca White tries to explain her Medihotels madness the more questions emerge.
When asked recently by media how much it would cost to lease out hotel beds for patients Ms White had no idea.
Instead she tried to talk in broad terms about an ‘allocation of funding’ that would be set aside.
When questioned on how much that was Ms White had to look it up – despite health being her own shadow portfolio!
“so we have allocated money – I’ll just have a look at our papers here….” *
This is on top of Ms White not being able to say how many beds will need to be leased - or which hotels they will be leased from;
claiming beds leased would need to be good value for the taxpayer – but also available in the peak tourist season (when hotels charge premium rates);
and contradictions over care – on one hand Ms White says hotel beds will be for patients ready to go home - yet they will receive 24/7 care.
Every time Ms White speaks about her disastrous Medihotels policy, it unravels a little bit more.
