White’s Medihotel madness #2 - Contradictions emerge over care

The more Rebecca White tries to explain her Medihotels disaster the more questions emerge.

Ms White confirmed on radio yesterday that Medihotels would be for patients that are ready to go home, saying:

“they don’t need to be there in the hospital…..those are the patients who would be eligible….it is not for acute sick patients.” *

Then why put them in a hotel bed with 24/7 care? What staff will be providing this care and where are the staff supposed to go?

The best place for a patient ready to be discharged is in their own home with any required community support services.

Ironically it was Labor that cut the Hospital in the Home program, which the Hodgman Liberal Government has since restored in Launceston.

Ms White was unable to answer even simple questions like how many Medihotel beds would be required, or the cost of each bed.

Every time Ms White speaks about her disastrous medihotel policy, it unravels a little bit more.
