White Ribbon Day

The Liberal Government is united in support of White Ribbon Day to fight against the evil of violence against women.

I am proud to be an ambassador and to take part in the White Ribbon Night, which encourages men to 'have a night in and get the word out' against violence.

Violence against women is sadly widespread in our community, with one in three Australian women experiencing some form of physical violence.

That's why it is so important to add our voices to this campaign, to join together in the White Ribbon oath and make a public stand against violence against women.

The Liberal Government is committed to protecting Tasmania's women and children.

We are contributing $35,000 a year to help the new joint Australia's National Research Organisation for Women's Safety investigate factors behind violence against women.

We're also adding an additional $924,000 over four years towards the prevention of sexual assault and increasing after hours sexual assault services.

Violence against women is utterly unacceptable, and White Ribbon Day is an important part of the campaign to stamp it out.
