Labor’s Bass MHR Ross Hart has amazingly refused to rule out a change to the GST that would negatively affect Tasmania if a Shorten Labor Government was elected.
According to the Examiner website, “When pressed on if a Shorten Government would make any changes to the GST that would negatively affect Tasmania Mr Hart said; “like any government – you can't rule something in or out”.*
These are outrageous comments from Mr Hart and come after Mr Shorten promised a $1.6 billion bail out to WA- money that could be used for critical infrastructure right here in Tasmania.
The Hodgman Government’s position is clear- We have successfully fought off previous attempts to change the GST that would have disadvantaged Tasmania, and we will do so again.
Rebecca White must immediately condemn Mr Hart’s comments and provide assurances that she will fight any proposed changes to the GST from a future Shorten Government.
