The Tasmanian majority Liberal Government is a strong supporter of events in our state, which draw people to our great state and showcase the very best Tasmania has to offer.
Through Events Tasmania, we are continuing to support a strong showcase of events that help shine a light on all our state has to offer and play an important role strengthening regional jobs and economic benefits.
I’m very happy to announce we will provide $125,000 to the Tasmanian Whiskey & Spirits Association to deliver the inaugural International Whisky Awards in Tasmania in August 2020 – with the event positioned alongside the world renowned events held each year in London and San Francisco.
We believe Tasmania produces the finest Whiskey in the Southern Hemisphere – if not the world – and these awards are testament to that and will further enhance our national and international reputation by putting Tasmania on equal footing with similar events held in London and San Francisco.
The Tasmanian whisky brand capitalises on the features that our island state are famous for – clean water, natural beauty and the quality and diversity of its local food and beverages.
The event will also provide significant economic benefit for Tasmania, drawing leading judges and media from around the world to showcase the best that we have to offer.
