It is disappointing that Rebecca White has gone into hiding, instead of publicly condemning the sexist and derogatory remarks of Labor Member for Braddon Shane Broad.
By her own actions, Rebecca White has demonstrated woeful leadership, and has undermined the previously bipartisan attempts to promote respect for women.
Further, the attempt yesterday by Labor’s David O’Byrne to dismiss the matter, claiming Dr Broad had merely spoken poorly, shows how out of touch he and Labor are.
This is a real test of Rebecca White’s leadership.
The standard you walk past is the standard you accept, Ms White. When will you do the right thing and make sure your Labor colleagues, like Dr Broad, demonstrate respect for women?
