Where have the medi-hotels gone?

Just two weeks after Labor rolled out its so-called alternative Budget that included as its centrepiece a medi-hotel scheme, the policy appears to have been dumped.

So embarrassed is Opposition leader Bec White by the disastrous plan and the alternative treasurer Scott Bacon’s inability to even explain it in a recent interview, that she has quietly pushed it to one side.

There was no mention of medi-hotels as her fix for bed access issues in her interview with The Mercury today about health.

Once again this demonstrates her inexperience, and this idea as just another Labor thought bubble which would be unsafe for sick patients.

Sick patients belong in hospitals, not hotels.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is getting on with the job of caring for Tasmanians and opening additional hospital beds.

My visit this week to see the progress of the $689 million Royal Hobart Hospital Redevelopment that will have capacity for 250 beds, demonstrates that commitment.
