What's next?

Yesterday Labor adopted a Greens' policy to ban pokies.

Labor said "no deals" but the deal to govern with the Greens has already been struck, even before the election.

The question now is, what's next? Labor has done a deal with the Greens before the election on pokies, and there's little doubt they will do more deals with them afterwards.

Alcohol causes much greater harm than gambling – is Labor going to ban that too? What about smoking or the future of industries the Greens oppose like salmon, forestry or mining?

Labor are going to hurt small business and cost jobs for no real impact on problem gambling – even their own policy document concedes more than 70 per cent of pokie gambling will simply move to the casinos, or online.

This is a patronising attack on free choice, and a step backwards to a nanny state.
