What deal has Bryan Green done to save his skin?

Bryan Green’s horror start to 2017 has gone from bad to worse, with Labor leadership aspirant, David O’Byrne all but set for a comeback.

Mr Green confirmed yesterday that he had spoken to both the unions and Mr O’Byrne in past days, presumably to try and save his political skin.  He also confirmed that Mr O’Byrne’s desire to make a comeback has “hardened”.

It’s now a matter of when, not if, Mr O’Byrne makes a comeback.

The question is: what deal did Mr Green do to stop the unions from pulling the rug out from under his leadership?

Speculation is growing that Mr Green has agreed to walk away from politics after the next election in return for being allowed to save face and lead the Labor Party to the next election.

The voters of Braddon deserve to know if Mr Green is fair dinkum.  If Mr Green is re-elected at the next election, will he give a rock-solid guarantee that he will serve out a full four year term, or if he stumbles over the line and retains his seat, will he simply sit around for a year or two and then pull stumps on his inglorious political career and retire to his fishing lodge?

This wouldn’t be the first time that Mr Green has been caught out doing dodgy backroom deals to save his own skin.

It’s time he came clean.
