A new gallery at Hadley’s Orient Hotel will showcase art made in Tasmania during the nineteenth century.
Artworks on display have been curated from the significant collection of colonial works on paper owned by the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) and the Royal Society of Tasmania.
TMAG is a premier cultural attraction that supports the Tasmanian Government’s long-term goal of bringing 1.5 million visitors to the state each year, and I am delighted they are partnering with Hadleys to showcase this historical artwork to Tasmanians.
The original art works can only be exhibited on occasion owing to their vulnerability. The 29 high quality reproduction images on display in the new Hadley’s Gallery are a wonderful way to make the TMAG and Royal Society of Tasmania collections available to the public.
Hadley’s Gallery is now open to the public at Hadley’s Orient Hotel, 34 Murray Street, Hobart. Admission is free and it is open 10:00 am - 4:00 pm daily.
