Upgrade of Campbell Town Rest Stop Facilities

The Hodgman Liberal Government will contribute $80,000 towards the Northern Midlands Council upgrade of the Valentine Park toilet facilities at Campbell Town.

Stopping at Campbell Town is a time-honoured Tasmanian tradition for those travelling from Hobart to Launceston or vice versa, and having quality facilities available will ensure this continues.

Fatigue is a key contributor to road crashes and it is important that all drivers take regular rests during long journeys.

Over the last decade, investment by Northern Midlands Council in facilities at Valentine Park has increased Campbell Town's popularity as a rest stop. A number of new food and retail businesses have been established and visitor numbers are now outgrowing the existing toilet facilities.

The Government's contribution towards the facilities at Valentine Park is part of a plan to upgrade rest area facilities in line with the 2010 Midland Highway Partnership Agreement.
