Work is underway to upgrade toilet facilities at the Bruny Island Ferry terminal at Kettering.
The Liberal Government is committed to achieving our vision of growing visitor numbers to the State to 1.5 million a year by 2020, and that’s why it is important that we have suitable infrastructure for locals and tourists alike.
It’s expected the work will be completed this month, ensuring that the new facilities will be ready for the summer influx of tourists to the gateway of one of Tasmania’s most popular tourism destinations, Bruny Island.
The upgrade has been designed in consultation with the Kingborough Council and other key stakeholders including the Ferry Road Community Group, the Bruny Island Ferry Service operator and the owners of the Mermaid Cafe.
It will deliver revised layouts for standard and disabled toilet facilities.
Temporary facilities will be available adjacent to the terminal in Ferry Road, while there will be a slight disruption to traffic flow with one lane of the ferry queuing area being shut off.
The Bruny Island Ferry Service is an important infrastructure investment that connects an island community to jobs, services, and to their fellow Tasmanians – in addition to fostering the growing unique tourism market on the island.
