Unique objects tell tale of Tasmania’s past

An exhibition showcasing the remarkable stories and cultural heritage behind some of Tasmania’s most significant objects officially opens at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery (TMAG) tomorrow.

10 objects – 10 stories: Celebrating Community Collections features objects curated by Arts Tasmania’s Roving Curators from community museums across Tasmania, from King Island to the Tasmanian Transport Museum at Glenorchy and Campbell Town Museum in the Midlands.

The exhibition includes a three-dimensional papier-mâché advertising shop display based on the logo of famous 20th century London company, Fox Frames and a recorded interview with the last ANZAC, Tasmanian Alec Campbell.

The Hodgman Liberal Government provided $493,650 through Arts Tasmania’s Cultural Heritage Program, which supports more than 140 small museums and collections with such programs like the Roving Curators.

Tasmania’s small museums and collections play an important role as the custodians and storytellers of our unique cultural heritage.

10 objects – 10 stories: Celebrating Community Collections is on display at TMAG from March 23 - May 13, 2018.
