Trent unit at the Tamar Valley Power Station

The Government is doing everything necessary to ensure energy security for Tasmania.

We are also committed to regularly updating Tasmanians on the situation, which I do at least every week.

Hydro Tasmania has advised that a faulty valve needed to be replaced on the Trent unit at the Tamar Valley Power Station and it is expected to return to service later today.

The Trent unit was returned to service well ahead of schedule and has been performing well since then.

The reality is that from time to time complex machinery like the turbines at Tamar Valley Power Station require maintenance and components need to be replaced. To suggest that this is some sort of conspiracy highlights how desperate Labor is becoming.

It is unfortunate that once again Labor is playing petty politics with this issue.
