To help inform the current discussion regarding the Treasury Building I am releasing the detailed heritage report.
The Government is open to considering other uses for the building and understanding the views of the community about the future use of the Treasury Building. This report is important to understanding the significant heritage issues relating to the Treasury Building.
Unfortunately, I expect Labor will continue to play politics with this issue.
When we said we were considering future uses for the Treasury Building, they accused us of trying to sell off Tasmania’s heritage, yet when we decided against using the building for other purposes, they attacked us for retaining the site.
It’s cheap politics from the Labor Party. If they were really serious about this issue, they would have done something about it during the 16 years they were in government. The heritage report can be accessed here –
