The newest extension to Australia’s oldest golf course is driving tourism confidence in the Central Highlands.
The completion of the four holes at Ratho Farm has effectively created Tasmania’s newest 18-hole public golf course.
It’s fantastic to see the Central Highlands diversify and strengthen its tourism potential, taking advantage of the many bushwalks, world-class fly fishing lakes and events like Highlands Bushfest and the International Highland SpinIN.
The events highlight how our tourism sector is going from strength to strength, generating jobs and helping to achieve our T21 vision to grow visitor numbers to 1.5 million by 2020.
Last year Ratho Farm Highlands Resort opened its doors to overnight and business visitors with the development of luxury accommodation and a homestead atrium.
The $1.5 million investment is bolstering tourism confidence in the area and that’s why the Tasmanian Government supports tourism developments like Ratho Farm – they assist regional economies and regional jobs.
They also provide economic diversification in that they create more jobs outside primary industries and more within the tourism, food and hospitality industry.
